Hoje: Misty In Roots – “Ghetto Of The City” (live)
Os Misty In Toots são um grupo histórico do reggae militante, uma verdadeira força musical, os verdadeiros culturistas da música reggae de intervenção. Foram um dos grupos fundadores do movimento “Rock Contra o Racismo”, que nasceu em 1978, numa Inglaterra muito marcada pelo desemprego e pela depressão económica que atingia brancos e negros.
As suas letras fortes e denunciadoras da situação de exploração dos trabalhadores e das desigualdades sociais levaram o grupo a liderar uma luta conjunta, que nos anos 70/80, envolveu diversos movimentos de protesto, que nasceram na cidade de Londres contra o racismo. As suas letras inspiraram uma crescente consciência e um despertar social como em “GHETTO OF THE CITY”.
Os Misty in Roots enfrentaram obstáculos e dificuldades, quando o seu estúdio foi atacado durante os tumultos Southall e os seus membros sofreram ferimentos. Não desistiram e o seu empenho permitiu alcançar novos públicos ao tocar em locais como centros comunitários. Isso abriu um público totalmente novo para a banda que rapidamente desenvolveu um público muito forte, tocando com bandas como Tom Robinson, The Ruts e Elvis Costello.
Intransigentes e inflexíveis nos seus ideais de defesa dos oprimidos, criticando ao capitalismo e lutando pela mudança.

Música gravada ao vivo no “Counter-Eurovision” realizado no Cirque Royal em Bruxelas nos dias 31 de Março e 1 de Abril de 1979. Foi organizado pelo CAFIT sob a iniciativa de Pour le Socialisme e do semanário POUR (Bélgica). Este álbum foi produzido com a colaboração da associação sem fins lucrativos CAFIT (Collectif d'Animation pour la Formation et l'information des Travailleurs).
